Acting Art: Dramatic Theatre and Film Acting

What is taught in this field

The programme is delivered at the Uzbekistan State Institute of Arts and Culture, its Nukus branch, and Kokand State University. Students learn to feel confident on stage and in front of the camera. The core of the programme includes acting skills, stage speech, voice and breathing technique, plasticity, dance and movement classes. Students also study theatre history, literature and dramaturgy, the basics of directing, and the theory of film art.

In practical classes, students work on stage scenes, learn to prepare a role independently, and perform scenes together with partners. In film acting, an important part of training includes working in front of a camera, screen tests, and taking part in short film scenes.

Who will the graduate become

Graduates can work as theatre actors, actors in films and television programmes, stage speech teachers, or creative staff in cultural institutions. Some become assistants to directors, performers of scripts and stage works, or organisers of cultural and educational events.

Where can you work

In Uzbekistan, graduates can seek jobs in state and private theatres, philharmonic halls, film studios, television channels, and various cultural centres. Opportunities also exist in art schools, cultural and arts education institutions, festival and concert organisations, and fields that require working with voice and speech.
