Acting Arts: Puppet Theatre Acting

What is taught in this program

The Puppet Theatre Acting program trains students in the general foundations of stage art and in the craft of working with puppets. Core subjects include acting skills, stage speech, movement and plasticity, puppet manipulation techniques, the basics of dramaturgy and directing, and theatre history.

In practical classes, students learn to work with different types of puppets, create characters, and take part in small performances. They also develop skills in adapting voice and body for the stage and in working as part of a creative team.

Who will the graduate become

Graduates can work as puppet theatre actors and puppeteers. They may perform in children’s theatres, theatre studios and cultural centres, and work with young audiences. Some graduates later move into teaching or directing.

Where you can work

Graduates can work in state and non-state puppet theatres, children’s theatres, philharmonic halls, and cultural and arts institutions in Uzbekistan. Opportunities also exist in television, film, and theatrical entertainment organisations, as well as in education and in children’s cultural centres.

Who this program suits

This program suits people who are drawn to the stage, enjoy creativity and imaginative characters, and like working with children. Clear speech, coordinated movement, teamwork skills, and readiness for long rehearsals are important. Parents should know that this profession requires patience, hard work, and continuous self-development.
