Students of Artistic Ceramics study the art of working with clay in depth. They first learn the basics of drawing, composition, color harmony and form-building. Then they master hand-building vessels and sculptural forms, working on the potter's wheel, and decorating and glazing techniques.
Core subjects include art design, the history of traditional and artistic ceramics, materials science, kiln firing technology and the history of Uzbek applied art. Students also develop skills in organizing exhibitions and presenting their creative work.
Graduates can work as ceramic artists, applied art masters or designers. Some become art teachers, heads of creative studios or museum staff. They may also build an independent creative practice, presenting their own works at exhibitions.
In Uzbekistan, graduates can work in culture and art institutions, children's art schools, general secondary schools and vocational colleges. Museums, exhibition halls, folk craft centers and souvenir production enterprises also offer opportunities. Opening a private workshop or working in tourism and design are also promising options.
This program suits applicants who enjoy drawing, want to create with their hands and have a sense of beauty. Patience, attention to detail and precise hand movements are important. An interest in folk crafts, traditions and natural materials also helps achieve good results in this field.
