What is taught in this field

In this field you learn how to organize the exchange of information between organizations and the public in a correct and transparent way. The program covers the theory of mass communication, the basics of public relations, media analysis and the practical work of an information service.

Core subjects include writing and editing texts, working with mass media, organizing events, the basics of branding and image, and creating content for digital media and social networks. Communication and presentation skills are also developed, and a foreign language is of great importance in this field.

In Uzbekistan this field is taught at four higher education institutions, including the National University of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek State University of World Languages, the Uzbek State University of Journalism and Mass Communications, and Karakalpak State University.

Who the graduate becomes

A graduate becomes a specialist who delivers clear and reliable information to the public about the activities of an organization or institution. Common professions include PR specialist, press service employee, information service specialist, text author, content manager, event organizer, social media specialist and press secretary.

First positions are usually specialist or assistant roles. With experience, it is possible to grow to the level of department head or leading specialist.
