Design: Automotive Design

What is taught in this field

In the Automotive Design program, students learn to design the exterior appearance of a car, its interior, and how the driver and passengers interact with it. In the first years, students study engineering fundamentals, technical drawing, mathematics, and physics. In later stages, the main focus is on:

• computer-aided design (CAD) software;
• sketching, working with color and form;
• 3D modeling and prototype creation;
• basics of ergonomics and user comfort;
• general knowledge of materials and manufacturing technologies.

Students also develop teamwork skills, learn to present their projects, and strengthen creative thinking.

Who the graduate becomes

Graduates can start their careers as automotive designers, design specialists, model makers, or design engineers. Their work includes creating the look of a new vehicle model, developing it in a computer model, and taking part in preparing it for production. With experience, graduates may advance to positions such as head of a design department or leader of a project team.

Where you can work

Graduates can work at car manufacturing plants, vehicle assembly enterprises, and their design centers. They can also find jobs at auto parts manufacturers, vehicle repair and service centers, design studios, and engineering and design organizations. In addition, they can work in industrial product design and in research institutions in the transport sector. As the automotive industry in Uzbekistan is developing, there are employment opportunities for specialists in this field.
