What is taught in this field

In the direction Design: clothing and fabrics, students learn the fundamentals of creating garments and textile materials. The curriculum covers artistic thinking, technical drawing and composition, as well as subjects on the structure and properties of fabrics. Students learn to design clothing models, develop patterns and become familiar with sewing technology. Skills in creating sketches and models with computer design programs are also developed.

Practical classes take place in sewing workshops and laboratories. Training in this field is offered at 8 higher education institutions, including: Andijan State University, Bukhara State Technical University, Chirchik State Pedagogical University, National Institute of Painting and Design, Navoi State University, Karshi State University, Karakalpak State University and Samarkand State Technical University.

What graduates can become

Graduates can start work as clothing designers, fashion designers, pattern makers, textile designers or print pattern developers. Some work as technologists at sewing enterprises, chief designers or quality control specialists. Creating one's own clothing brand or opening a small workshop is also a common path.

Shopping centers and brands, advertising agencies, theater and film costume workshops, educational institutions and craft centers also employ specialists.
