What is taught in this program

This program provides in-depth study of the Pashto language and the foundations of philology. Core subjects include practical Pashto grammar, oral and written communication, text analysis, literature, and translation theory. Students gradually develop skills in reading, writing, and conversation in Pashto.

Students also learn about the history, culture, and regional ties of Pashto-speaking countries, including Afghanistan and Pakistan. The program is offered at Termez State University and Tashkent State University of Oriental Studies. Bilingual communication, translation, and academic research skills play an important role.

Who the graduate becomes

Graduates can work in the following roles:

• philologist and linguist;
• Pashto language teacher;
• translator or interpreter specialist;
• international relations specialist.

They teach the language, prepare bilingual documents, translate and comment on texts. Some graduates choose to continue academic research.
