The programme covers work with hydraulic structures, dams, canals, pumping stations and ground foundations. Core subjects include higher mathematics, mechanics, hydraulics, hydrology, soil mechanics, concrete and reinforced concrete structures, design of hydraulic structures, water management systems and construction materials.
Students master calculation software and technical drawing, and take part in practical classes and field work.
Graduates may work as design engineers for hydraulic structures, geotechnical survey specialists, construction supervision inspectors, or engineers responsible for operating water structures.
In Uzbekistan, these specialists are needed in water management and irrigation systems, design institutes, construction companies and state bodies dealing with water resources. Rational use of water resources and construction of new structures are an important part of this sector.
The programme is taught at the following universities:
This field suits applicants interested in mathematics and physics, who enjoy understanding how structures are built and how natural processes work, and who have a careful and responsible approach. Teamwork, writing reports and readiness to work in field conditions are also important.
