Sericulture and Mulberry Growing

What is taught in this field

In the Sericulture and Mulberry Growing program, students study the biology of the mulberry tree, the agrotechnology of its cultivation, and the basics of feeding silkworms with mulberry leaves. Core subjects include crop production, plant physiology, entomology, silkworm biology and breeding, organization of silkworm rearing houses, cocoon production, and silk reeling technology. Students also study soil science, plant protection against pests, agricultural economics, and basic agronomic calculations.

Practical classes take place in the field, in mulberry plantations and in laboratories. Students learn to plant and care for seedlings, feed silkworms, and monitor product quality.
