What is taught in this field

Students in Islamic Studies get to know the Islamic religion, its history, sources and scholarly traditions in depth. Training in this field is provided by the Uzbekistan International Islamic Academy. The programme covers core subjects: Quranic sciences, hadith sciences, the foundations of fiqh, issues of aqida, the history and culture of Islam, Sufism and Islamic philosophy. Students also study Arabic and other necessary languages, since working with primary sources requires strong language skills.

Key skills include analysing texts, critically reading sources, academic writing and conducting research, as well as organising interfaith dialogue and educational outreach.
