Film and Television Cinematography

What You Will Study

In the Film and Television Cinematography programme, students learn how to compose a shot, light a scene and express ideas through the moving image. Core subjects include the theory and history of cinema, composition, lighting, the fundamentals of cameras and optics, and digital image processing. In practical classes, students work with various camera equipment, plan scenes and take part in the full filming process.

Throughout the training, students develop the skills to build a shot both artistically and technically, create images with a personal visual voice, and collaborate with screenwriters and directors. This knowledge is essential for shooting documentaries, feature films, television programmes and advertising clips.

Who Graduates Become

Graduates can work as film or TV cinematographers, camera operators, lighting specialists (gaffers), or image specialists in editing and post-production. They may also serve as assistant or lead cinematographers within a creative film crew.

Where You Can Work

Graduates can work in state and private film studios in Uzbekistan, television channels, advertising agencies, production companies, documentary and animation studios, as well as organisations in the culture and arts sector. Independent projects such as events, concerts and tourism videos are also a good match. Creative teams need qualified professionals.
