What is taught in this field

The Materials Science program covers the structure and properties of various materials and the methods of processing them. Core subjects include mathematics, physics and chemistry, as well as courses on the structure and properties of materials, metals, ceramics, polymers and composite materials. In laboratory classes, students learn to carry out mechanical, thermal and other material tests, analyze the results and present them in reports. Computer-based calculations and modeling are also important skills.

Who the graduate becomes

Graduates can work as materials engineers, technologists, laboratory specialists or quality control engineers. They monitor the quality of materials in production, introduce new materials and improve technological processes. Those who choose a scientific path may become researchers or teachers.
