Melioration Hydrogeology

What is taught in this field

Melioration hydrogeology studies the formation, movement, quality and regime of groundwater and teaches how to manage it correctly for agricultural and water management purposes. The programme is taught at Bukhara State Technical University and Karshi State Technical University. Core subjects include geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, soil science, hydraulics, irrigation and drainage systems, basics of water quality analysis, geodesy and computer data processing.

Students develop skills in field research, working with wells and observation points, collecting water and soil samples, and laboratory analysis. They also gain practical experience in assessing soil salinization and waterlogging, monitoring melioration conditions and preparing technical reports.
