Native Language and Literature: Kyrgyz Language

What is taught in this program

Students in this program study the Kyrgyz language in depth, including phonetics, lexicology, morphology and syntax. They also study the history of Kyrgyz literature, folk oral art, literary criticism and the modern literary process.

As this is a pedagogical program, the curriculum includes teaching methodology, pedagogy and psychology. Students develop skills in conducting lessons, analyzing classes and designing the learning process. During practice they gain experience in real school settings.

Who will the graduate become

Graduates can work as teachers of Kyrgyz language and literature. They teach in general secondary schools, academic lyceums and vocational colleges. They may also work as methodologists, researchers or translators.

In Uzbekistan, and in particular in Andijan region, specialists with knowledge of Kyrgyz may be in demand, as there are schools teaching in Kyrgyz and an active Kyrgyz community here.
