Color Art: Visual Design of Film

What You Will Study

In this program students learn to create the visual world of a film. Core subjects include drawing, composition, color theory and the history of fine art. Students also study the basics of cinema, screenplay analysis and ways of working with the director. This program is taught at the National Institute of Fine Arts and Design.

Students develop the following skills:

• sketching and drawing storyboard frames;
• choosing the color scheme and light mood of a film;
• developing the visual concept of sets and costumes;
• working with digital graphics software.
