What is taught in this program

In the Theatre Scenic Painting program, students master the painting skills needed to create stage decorations, curtains and theatre backdrops. Core subjects include drawing, composition, colour theory, basics of perspective, fine arts and the history of theatre art.

In practical classes, students prepare sketches and large-scale paintings, work with various paints and materials, and learn painting techniques for large surfaces. They also develop skills in designing a stage image as a team and communicating with directors and other specialists.

Who the graduate becomes

Graduates can work as theatre scenic artists, stage painters, decorator-artists or decoration craftsmen. They create artistic decorations for theatre productions, prepare sets based on sketches and define the colour solution of the stage space.
