What is taught in this field

The Political Science programme studies political processes in society and the state, the structure of power, political institutions and international relations. Students get acquainted with political theory and the history of political thought, fundamentals of state studies, comparative politics, basics of international relations, political analysis, socio-political statistics and research methods.

Courses also cover the foundations of the state and law of Uzbekistan, the constitutional system, public administration and issues of civil society. Knowledge of a foreign language, skills in academic writing, analytical thinking, public speaking and teamwork play an important role. Much of the learning takes place through practical classes, seminars, debates and research projects.

Who will graduates become

Graduates can work as political analysts, experts, civil servants, diplomats or staff of international organisations, researchers, lecturers, journalists and commentators, and coordinators of social projects. Their main tasks include analysing information, preparing draft decisions, studying public opinion and building external contacts.

Where can one work

Graduates find jobs in state bodies, ministries and agencies, regional administration (hokimiyat) structures, the apparatus of the Oliy Majlis, the foreign affairs sector, international organisations and embassies, non-governmental non-profit organisations, analytical centres, mass media, educational and research institutions, and social and political departments of private companies. In Uzbekistan there is demand for specialists in public administration, international cooperation and social projects.
