Sports Activity: Para Athletics

What is taught in this field

This programme prepares specialists to work with athletes with disabilities, teach para athletics events and organise sports training. The main subjects include anatomy, physiology, sports medicine, biomechanics, theory and methodology of physical education and sport, adapted physical education, psychology and pedagogy.

Students master the techniques of athletics events such as running, jumping and throwing. The curriculum also covers planning training with athletes’ functional abilities in mind, officiating at competitions and first aid skills.

Who the graduate becomes

Graduates may work as para athletics coaches, physical education instructors or adapted physical education specialists. They may also take supporting roles in sports medicine or rehabilitation, and work as methodologists or coaches in sports organisations.
