What is taught in this field

Students study the techniques and tactics of sambo in depth: throwing methods, grips and defensive actions, and the rules for the safe use of joint-lock and choke techniques. Core subjects include theory and methodology of sport, theory of physical education, anatomy, physiology, sports hygiene, sports psychology and pedagogy.

Practical classes cover general and special physical training, wrestling-related exercises, and training in the gym and on the mat. Students also learn how to organize competitions, apply refereeing rules and work with pupils.

What graduates become

Graduates can work as sambo coaches, physical education teachers, coach-teachers, referees or sports organizers. They can teach children and young people in youth sports schools, sports clubs or during physical education lessons.

As qualified specialists, they take part in monitoring athletes' physical condition, drawing up training plans and preparing athletes for competitions.
