Sports Activity: Modern Pentathlon

What is taught in this program

Modern pentathlon is a complex, multi-discipline sport that combines five events: fencing, swimming, show jumping (equestrian), pistol shooting and cross-country running. Students receive theoretical and practical training in each of these events. The curriculum also covers anatomy, physiology, sport psychology, training theory and methodology, sports hygiene and the fundamentals of physical education.

Key skills include planning training sessions, monitoring an athlete's physical condition, analyzing competition tactics and teaching sports technique correctly to others.

What graduates can become

Graduates are prepared to work in sports as specialists. They may take up positions such as:

• modern pentathlon coach;
• coach-teacher at a children's and youth sports school;
