Stomatology

What is taught in this field

Students of stomatology learn how to diagnose, treat and prevent diseases of the oral cavity and the maxillofacial region. The programme includes core medical subjects such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology and pharmacology. Specialised subjects follow, including therapeutic dentistry, prosthetic dentistry, surgical dentistry, paediatric dentistry and orthodontics.

Practical training plays an important role: in training clinics, students gradually acquire skills in examining patients, treating teeth and carrying out prosthetic work. Communication skills, building trust with patients and medical ethics are also in focus.

A graduate becomes a dentist (stomatologist). They provide primary and specialised dental care to the population, treat dental diseases, and carry out prosthetic and orthodontic procedures. Later, through residency in a chosen specialty, they can specialise further as an orthodontist, an oral surgeon or in another field.

Graduates can work in state and private medical institutions in Uzbekistan: district and city polyclinics, multidisciplinary medical centres, dental clinics and private dental practices. It is also possible to work as a lecturer in medical educational institutions, in research institutes, or in the management bodies of the healthcare system.
