What is taught in this field

The Aquatic Bioresources and Aquaculture programme provides in-depth knowledge of the life of aquatic organisms and the methods of their reproduction and cultivation. Students study ichthyology, hydrobiology, water ecology, fish physiology and nutrition, and the basics of artificial reproduction.

The curriculum covers aquaculture technologies, including fish farming in ponds, open water bodies, cages and recirculating water systems. Students also learn about water quality control, disease prevention, veterinary requirements and the basics of primary processing of fish products.

In practical classes, students develop skills in laboratory analysis, measuring hydrochemical parameters, statistical processing of data and observing production processes. Knowledge of English and computer literacy also play an important role.

What graduates become

Graduates can work as aquaculture specialists at fish farms, fish hatcheries and organisations that manage water bodies. They may hold positions such as technologist, zootechnician, hydrobiologist or laboratory specialist.

Graduates may also find their place in control and expert work in the fishery sector, in research institutions, in advisory services, or in teaching.

Where you can work

In Uzbekistan, graduates can find employment at state and private fish farming enterprises, aquaculture farms, fish breeding centres, and in the system of managing open water bodies. Research institutes and veterinary and sanitary control laboratories also offer opportunities.

Specialists are also in demand at fish processing companies, environmental monitoring organisations and agricultural advisory services.

Who this programme suits

This field suits applicants who love nature, are interested in aquatic animals and plants, and are observant and responsible. The ability to carry out experiments, analyse data and show patience in practical work is important.

For young people who do well in chemistry and biology, are physically active and are ready to work in field conditions, this programme opens wide opportunities.
