Technogenic Arts: Sound Directing for Film, Television and Radio

What is taught in this programme

The programme introduces the secrets of creating sound for film, television and radio. Students learn the basics of recording, processing, editing and mixing sound. Core subjects include fundamentals of acoustics, work with audio equipment and devices, sound editing, working with music and sound effects, as well as the basics of artistic analysis and screenwriting.

Skills are developed in practical classes: working with microphones and a mixing console in the studio, using audio editing software, creating sound effects and selecting a sound environment that matches the content of each scene and shot. From a directing perspective, students learn how to build a story through sound. The programme is taught at the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan (O‘zbekiston davlat sanʼat va madaniyat instituti) and its Nukus branch.

Who the graduate becomes

Graduates are prepared to work as sound directors, sound engineers, sound specialists in film editing, and sound operators for radio and television broadcasts. They become members of teams that create the sound environment for feature films, documentaries, TV programmes, radio broadcasts and audio content projects.
