What is taught in this field

In this field, students study in depth the rich heritage of Uzbek traditional singing. The main focus is on performing maqoms, folk songs and lyrical songs. The curriculum includes voice training and vocal care, breathing technique, solfeggio and music theory, as well as the history of Uzbek music. Students also learn to perform with national instruments, work in ensembles and choirs, and develop stage speech and stage movement skills.

Much of the training is based on the master-apprentice tradition. This allows students to master performance style, pronunciation and the culture of artistic performance in practice.

Who will the graduate become

Graduates can work as traditional singers, soloists or maqom performers.
