Folk Art: Instrumental Performance

What is taught in this programme

The programme focuses on performance on folk instruments. Students develop performing skills on traditional Uzbek folk instruments, including dutar, rubab, tanbur and others. Alongside solo playing, they learn ensemble and orchestral performance.

The curriculum includes main instrumental practice, solfeggio and music theory, history of folk music, fundamentals of maqom, ensemble performance and stage etiquette. Students also learn to analyse folk melodies, perform them in their authentic style and adapt them to modern stage requirements.
