What is taught in this field
In the Zooengineering programme, students learn the basics of raising, feeding and keeping farm animals and obtaining high-quality products from them. Core subjects include animal breeding and genetics, animal nutrition, animal physiology, organisation of livestock farming, technology for producing milk and meat, forage preparation, animal hygiene and the fundamentals of veterinary science.
In practical classes, students gain skills in working on farms, evaluating animals by breed and productivity, artificial insemination and preparing feed rations. Modern information technologies and data analysis are also taught. This programme is offered at 10 higher education institutions in Uzbekistan, including Fergana State University, Gulistan State University, Navoi State University of Mining and Technologies, and Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Livestock and Biotechnologies.
Who will graduate become
Graduates can work as zootechnicians, breeding specialists, feed specialists, farm managers or artificial insemination specialists. They may also work as livestock consultants, product quality control officers or research staff.
