News 16/03/2025 Some explanations on the procedure for the redistribution of grants

Due to the fact that many questions arise about this procedure, Khushnudbek Khudoyberdiyev, who contacted officials of the Ministry of Higher Education, tried to clarify some issues.

❓To which years of study does it apply?

✅ ANSWER: The application of this procedure begins with those who are students in the 2024/2025 academic year. In other words, it applies to current 1st-year students. That is, for current 1st-year students, grant places will be redistributed in the summer.

Nothing will change for students currently in their second year and above. That is, a student currently studying on a grant in the 2nd year will remain on the grant until graduation, regardless of their academic performance.

❓Does it apply to master's students?

✅ ANSWER: Yes, this procedure also applies to master's students. That is, grants for first-year master's students will be redistributed in the summer.

In this case, it is necessary to take into account:

1) payment of tuition fees from the state budget for female students in master's programs will continue, regardless of their academic performance;

2) for specialties that are fully funded by state grants, this procedure is not applied, as it makes no sense;

3) this procedure is not applied to specialties with a study period of 1 year, which is also logically understandable.

❓Does it apply to those who received grants with benefits?

✅ ANSWER: This procedure does not apply to students who have received state grants on a preferential basis, meaning they are granted a grant for a period of 4 years. In this case, the academic performance indicator is not significant. Benefits include, for example, winners of international Olympiads, recipients of various state awards, children of law enforcement officers, applicants with disabilities, women who have received recommendations, and others.

❓What about those who entered through targeted admission?

✅ ANSWER: Even for those admitted through targeted admissions, regardless of their academic performance indicator, the state grant is awarded for 4 years. The new procedure does not apply to them.

❓Can a student who has lost a state grant once apply for a grant again in the next academic year?

✅ ANSWER: Yes, they can apply. The competition for grant places will be held annually in July-August. In this case, the results of the previous year's competition are not taken into account. Everything starts anew. All students with a GPA above 3.5 during the current academic year can apply for the grant.

In other words, a student who has lost a grant once can receive a grant again the following year if they study well.
