News 21/04/2025 The National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan to be established

On April 21, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on improving the quality of school education and enhancing the teacher training system.

In the "Uzbekistan - 2030" Strategy, reforms in the education system are defined as one of the priority areas. This year's state program also sets numerous tasks for improving conditions in schools and educating the younger generation to be knowledgeable.

This largely depends on the knowledge and skills of teachers. In our country, there are 15 state and 61 non-state higher education institutions with pedagogical programs. However, their scientific potential is only around 40 percent.

The majority of admissions are in social fields. The training of teachers in exact and natural sciences is very limited. 40% of students are enrolled in distance education programs.

In this regard, it is planned to transform the Tashkent State Pedagogical University into the National Pedagogical University of Uzbekistan and implement the "Future Teachers" project. The university will become a base institution for pedagogical institutes in all regions.

More than 40 foreign teachers and 30 domestic intellectuals work at the "New Uzbekistan" University. Students have attracted grants totaling 24.3 billion soums for their projects in various fields. Using this potential, plans were presented for developing specialist training in modern fields such as engineering, digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and medicine, as well as opening new laboratories at the university.

To ensure the integration of science, education, and practice at the university, it is planned to establish a modern university clinic using advanced German experience.

International methods are also being introduced to assess the quality of education. This year, the knowledge of 9,000 15-year-old students in 233 schools will be evaluated through the PISA international program.

Currently, 2,000 schools are operating at high capacity. This year, 112,000 new student places will be created using budget funds. Due to population growth, the need for schools is also increasing. In this regard, it is planned to attract 200 million dollars from the Islamic Development Bank and construct 58 modern schools in the regions.

According to analysis, 80 percent of school-age children are active on the Internet and social networks. Certain measures are being taken to protect them from harmful information. However, there are few creators producing interesting national content that strongly influences the education and upbringing of young people.

Based on this, instructions were given to create a safe information environment for children, increase national content, and support content creators.
