Kazakhstan is considering the introduction of special SIM cards for children and adolescents. These cards will restrict access to certain websites and social networks. This was announced by the Deputy Minister of Public Education of the Republic, Edil Ospan.
According to Edil Ospan, a children's SIM card is a special tariff plan for mobile communication designed for children and teenagers. The official stated that these cards are necessary for children's safety: a special filter is installed on the SIM cards, which prevents children from accessing certain websites and viewing specific content on the Internet.
"Currently, the issue of introducing these SIM cards is being discussed jointly with authorized state bodies. We have already included the implementation of this card for children in the draft comprehensive plan. In our opinion, operators should issue special SIM cards specifically designed for children's use. Parents will be required to purchase these SIM cards for their children. This is because today, operators offer special tariffs for children only within the framework of access to educational resources, but do not provide control over children's safe behavior on the Internet," said Edil Ospan.
