An abstract is a summary of a dissertation written for obtaining an academic degree, prepared by the dissertation author and published as a separate brochure.

The main goal is: - to summarize the scientific novelty, important results, and main conclusions of the dissertation in a concise, understandable, and systematic form; - to give the scientific community a general idea of the research results; - to disseminate before the defense at academic councils and serve as a basis for discussion.

The abstract contains:

  • Topic and relevance of the dissertation;
  • Purpose and objectives of the research;
  • Scientific innovations and results;
  • Practical significance and areas of use;
  • Brief description of the chapters of the dissertation;
  • Conclusions and proposals;
  • List of the author's scientific works.

The abstract for the dissertation of Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Doctor of Philosophy (DSc) is written on the basis of special requirements and is formalized in accordance with GOST standards.
