In military service, a single split-second decision can shape how an entire situation unfolds. That is why today's officers need more than knowledge and experience: they must be able to assess a situation quickly, make well-founded decisions and turn them into precise action.

The University of Military Security and Defense has awarded certificates to the latest graduates of its Military Professional Training course. The courses are run at the university and at its institutes and faculties.

Why the course is needed

Unmanned aerial vehicles, communication and command systems, and electronic warfare tools are evolving rapidly. This places new demands on the training of military personnel: officers must keep developing their professional skills rather than rely on knowledge acquired once.

What the course covers

The course was attended by officers at the operational-tactical level. The curriculum includes:

  • improving specialist knowledge and skills;
  • planning and organising combat operations and commanding units;
  • coordinating cooperation and comprehensive support;
  • command, public speaking and organisational skills;
  • rapid decision-making in complex situations.

Classes were taught by the university's experienced faculty and instructors. Entrance tests at the start of the course assessed each participant's level, and the training priorities were set based on the results.

The course runs from September to May, with each training stage lasting 138 hours. At the end of each stage, participants' knowledge and skills are assessed, and those who meet the requirements receive a certificate.

The key measure: results in service

“The complexity of today's military tasks requires officers to constantly update their knowledge and turn it into practical skills. The main measure of military professional training is how the knowledge gained translates into results in service,” says Lieutenant Colonel Ibrokhim Khamdamov, head of the university's Department for Coordination of Academic and Methodological Work.

According to course participant Lieutenant Colonel Sherzod Gafurov, the training enriched the officers' existing experience with new knowledge and approaches and strengthened their readiness for complex tasks. “During the course I gained the knowledge I needed,” he says.

Organising the Military Professional Training courses systematically for the first time reflects an important approach: a modern army needs not just educated officers, but specialists who can apply their knowledge in changing conditions.
