An Indian student studying at the Tashkent Medical Academy criticized the quality of education at the institution.
"I am a first-year Indian student studying at the Tashkent Medical Academy (TMA). I was admitted in February 2025. I sincerely thought this would be an average university - affordable education, foreign MBBS, great environment, etc. But the situation turned out to be completely different. The quality of education here is so deplorable, especially for foreign students like us, it's unimaginable," he wrote on the Reddit platform.
The student, first of all, stated that the teachers can barely speak English, and it seems as if half of their sentences are being read through Google Translate:
"We're supposed to be learning to become doctors, but we can't understand them at all. They give us a 4-hour English lesson - as if I came here to learn the alphabet and grammar, not anatomy! And only 20 minutes are allocated for anatomy - which is also ridiculous. They don't explain anything. They come to class, point to the textbook, and say: 'Here's the topic, read and learn it.' Sometimes, a minute before the class is supposed to start, they say: 'this lesson will be online,' but surprisingly, no online lesson actually takes place. In reality, we teach ourselves, while they receive a salary and only respond to us when it's convenient for them," says the unnamed Indian student.
He also criticized the Dean of the Academy:
"This man is completely insane. He's always harassing us about the beard issue - constantly pestering us, as if we need to shave. I understand there are 'ministry regulations,' but brother, calm down - my beard isn't the reason for poor exam results. He himself is completely ineffective - he doesn't solve any problems, he just walks around acting like an important person," his post reads.
The criticism also raised the issue of the dormitory:
"And the dormitory where Indian students live is a real horror. Foul smells, moldy walls, constantly leaking pipes - when someone gets measles, they vaccinate everyone with some kind of vaccine, just like vaccinating livestock on a farm. Hygiene? It has never set foot here."
The student discussed the quality of education, complained that he wasn't learning anything, and called the exams a "circus":
#Article"The education here is so bad that I don't even know where to start. When teachers come, they only read slides or tell you to read it yourself and leave. How can we become good doctors if we're not taught anything? Exams are a circus. They give us a PDF file containing about 50 questions. They say, 'Memorize this,' and then you take a test on a computer. It all depends on how well you memorize. Almost every question is taken directly from that PDF. Exams are very easy to pass, but what's the point? I didn't come here to play memory games, but to study real medicine. That's why 'half-baked' doctors keep coming out of this place. How was this circus recognized by India's NMC (National Medical Commission)? Someone needs to investigate this."
