Many parents and students are asking when the autumn break begins. Under current rules, the autumn holiday in general secondary schools starts every year on November 4.
The holiday schedule for schoolchildren is set by the regulation on general secondary education, approved by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 140 of March 15, 2017. The autumn break lasts 6 calendar days, so it runs until November 9, and lessons for the second quarter resume on November 10.
In 2025, the autumn holiday also began on November 4 in line with the regulation and lasted until November 9. Pupils returned to classes on November 10.
So far, the Ministry of Preschool and School Education has not issued a separate official statement on the autumn break dates for the current academic year. Based on existing legislation and established norms, there is no apparent emergency reason to change the November 4 start.
According to paragraph 28 of the regulation, school holiday periods are as follows:
If the last day of a break falls on a public (non-working) holiday, lessons resume on the next working day. Lesson topics that fall on holidays will be covered in later classes, with curricula condensed accordingly.
