Singapore Institute of Management Development in Tashkent

The Singapore Institute of Management Development in Tashkent (TSMRI) is one of the few higher education institutions in Uzbekistan that runs academic programs in cooperation with United Kingdom universities and awards diplomas at the corresponding level. The university trains leading specialists in tourism and business in the country.

History

In January 2007, the First President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, I.Karimov, made a state visit to Singapore at the invitation of President S.R.Nathan of the Republic of Singapore. During the visit, issues of expanding cooperation between the two countries were discussed. Later, the parties focused on creating educational programs directly on the territory of Uzbekistan. Subsequently, the institute was established in accordance with Resolution No. PQ-691 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated 5 September 2007.

In April 2015, TSMRI became the first higher education institution in the country to receive the international quality certificate ISO 9001:2008 issued by the International Organization for Standardization.
