On February 26, 2025, a delegation headed by the First Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shokhrukh Daliev, held talks with the First Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of the Republic of Georgia, Giorgi Modebadze.
The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Ministers of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Baya Kvitsiani, and Tamar Gwamichava.
During the meeting, new initiatives were put forward to bring cooperation in the field of higher education, science, and innovation to a new level, based on agreements reached at the highest and high levels between the two countries. The parties exchanged views on the further development of cooperation in the field of education and science, the introduction of joint educational programs, support for research activities, and the expansion of mutual exchange of professors and teachers.
At the meeting, information was presented on projects being implemented within the framework of cooperation between the universities of the two countries. In particular, it was noted that three students from Georgia are successfully studying in Uzbekistan. It was also noted that cooperation has been established between Tashkent State Agrarian University and the Research Institute of Horticulture, Viticulture and Winemaking of Georgia, within the framework of which it is planned to create a collection vineyard and organize internships for master's students in the field of "Viticulture and Winemaking."
As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached on organizing the first forum of rectors between Uzbekistan and Georgia. Confidence was expressed that this forum will become an important platform for strengthening ties between the academic communities of the two countries, exchanging experience, and identifying promising areas of cooperation.
An agreement was also reached to support the process of admission of Georgian applicants to higher educational institutions of Uzbekistan. This will be an important step towards increasing the international prestige of Uzbekistan's education sector and exporting educational services.
