It was proposed to repatriate the children of migrants who failed the Russian language exam three times to study in Russian schools. This was reported by TASS.
It was reported that such a proposal was made by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs, Yaroslav Nilov.
"If they are unable to study, we need to limit their number, not giving them the opportunity to pass the exam once and retake it a second time. Three times. If it doesn't work out - he goes home and waits for his parents. That's it," he said.
He previously announced the development of a draft law limiting the time for migrant children to take the Russian language exam to two years. He said that the law prohibiting the enrollment of children of migrants who do not speak Russian into school came into force on April 1, but the total number of attempts to take such a test is not limited.
"We see a sad statistic that 30 out of a thousand children passed the exam. Some did not have the right to legally stay in Russia, some were unable to fill out documents, and others were unable to pass the test," said Nilov.
In his opinion, it was the right decision that the deputies of the State Duma developed and adopted a bill on testing the children of migrants. If this hadn't been done, poorly performing migrant children could have attracted excessive attention from teachers in schools and could have reduced the education level of Russian students in general.
Important changes regarding migrants came into effect in Russia on April 1st. According to it, migrant children will not be admitted to school without a test, they must take an exam in Russian. First-graders only undergo oral conversation. The rest are oral and written. Students must score at least 3 out of 5 points. The retake of the exam will take place after 3 months. For the children of migrants to be admitted to school, they must answer the Russian language exam 90 percent correctly.
