Canadian scientists have found that the intellectual level of university students has decreased compared to 70-80 years ago. Currently, students' IQ is at almost the same level as the general population.
In modern scientific literature, one can find information that the IQ level of university students is in the range above average, from 115 to 130 points. However, to collect data for scientific literature, students' indicators from the 1940s-1950s were taken.
Scientists from Mount Royal, British, Columbia, and Western (Canada) universities decided to "update" this data.
The authors conducted a meta-analysis of the average IQ scores of college and university students tested on the Wechsler intelligence scale from 1939 to 2022.
Researchers found that today the average IQ of university students is around 102 points, and moreover, it decreases by about 0.2 points every year. The level of students' intellectual abilities, of course, varies depending on the university.
