Special Pedagogy: Surdopedagogy

What is taught in this program

Surdopedagogy is a field of special pedagogy that focuses on teaching, upbringing and social adaptation of children and adults with impaired or completely lost hearing. Alongside the foundations of general pedagogy and psychology, students study the following subjects:

• the structure and function of the hearing organ and types of hearing impairments;
• theoretical foundations of surdopsychology and surdopedagogy;
• sign language and methods of speech development;
• methods of teaching deaf children of preschool and school age;
• inclusive education and organization of work in specialized institutions.

Studies combine theoretical knowledge with practical classes, pedagogical practice and exchange of experience.
