Sean K., an experienced US software engineer, previously earned $150,000 a year, but today he is forced to live in a trailer. He was fired from his $150,000-per-year job and replaced with artificial intelligence. This is his third job loss due to the crisis. Despite his 20 years of experience, almost nothing came of the 800 applications he submitted in the last year. According to him, this process is not only a technological revolution, but also the beginning of an impending socio-economic crisis.
Sean had previously lost his job during the 2008 financial crisis and pandemic, but he managed to find work again in a short time. However, in 2024, he was fired again due to the development of artificial intelligence.
Despite 20 years of experience and a computer science diploma, after submitting 800 applications, only 10 were called for interviews, some of which were conducted by artificial intelligence, not humans.
I don't blame AI. But instead of firing employees using AI capabilities, companies should have strengthened them and engaged them in massive work," says the specialist, who lost his job to artificial intelligence.
Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, predicts that by September 2025, AI will be able to write 90% of the code, and within 12 months, AI will be able to write almost all the codes.
