Reposts 24/01/2025 Can a probationary period be used when hiring graduates?

The issue of establishing a probationary period for students entering the workforce after graduating from higher education institutions is clearly defined in labor legislation. The probation period is a period of up to three months, which is provided to determine the employee's ability to work and verify the feasibility of future cooperation.

In which cases does the trial period not apply?

For the following categories of persons, a probationary period is not established when hiring:

  • Pregnant women and women with children under three years of age.
  • Graduates studying on the basis of a state grant and entering a job through a referral within three months after graduating from a higher educational organization.
  • Persons belonging to socially vulnerable categories are employed, for example, through referrals to reserve jobs.
  • Graduates entering employment for the first time within one year from the date of graduation from a secondary specialized, vocational or higher educational institution.

What students need to know about the trial period

If you are entering a job for the first time as a graduate of a higher educational institution, the application of probationary period to you is prohibited by law. This legislation aims to facilitate graduates' adaptation to work and protect their rights.
