The El-yurt umidi foundation under the President of Uzbekistan and the British Council have signed an agreement to implement the “Going Global Partnerships — Scholarships for Women in STEM” programme in Uzbekistan. The document was signed at the Global Talent Forum international conference in Samarkand.
Under the agreement, five Uzbek women will be able to study science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) subjects in the United Kingdom in the 2027–2028 academic year. Education costs will be shared on a joint funding basis: the El-yurt umidi foundation will cover 40 percent, and the British Council will cover the remaining 60 percent.
The initiative aims to expand international education opportunities for women and to train qualified specialists in science and advanced technology. Increasing the share of women in STEM fields remains an important goal, and programmes like this can open a clear path for young women toward careers in engineering and technology.
Detailed information on the selection procedure, candidate requirements and application deadlines has not yet been published. Additional details are expected later, so applicants interested in STEM education should follow official announcements.
The foundation had previously reported plans to train young people in a new profession at leading universities in South Korea for six months and to cover their education costs.
