1. University of Bologna

3. University of Cambridge

   It was founded in 1209 in England. As one of the most prestigious universities in the world, it was founded by scientists who left Oxford due to some disagreements. In 1231, King Henry III granted university official status.

   Today, there are 31 colleges and 6 schools in Cambridge. About 18,000 students study at the university. About 3,500 students from 120 countries of the world study. Despite the high cost of studying at Cambridge, it is distinguished by its prestige and high quality of education.

   It was founded in Italy in 1222. This university was founded after the faculty and students left the University of Bologna in search of scientific freedom. Theology and law were first studied here. By the end of the 14th century, medicine, oratory, astronomy, and philosophy were added to these disciplines.

  The university witnessed the first historical discoveries in medicine. This university has always focused on freedom of thought in teaching and learning. There Galileo Galilei taught students from 1592 to 1610.

5. University of Naples, Frederick II

   It was founded in Italy in 1224. The University of Naples was founded in accordance with a document approved by King Frederick II of Sicily and Emperor of the Roman Empire.

6. University of Toulouse

   It was founded in 1229 in France. This university was named after the county of Toulouse under the reign of Raymond VII.

   In 1969, the University of Toulouse was divided into three separate universities and became an association of research and higher educational institutions (consortium). Today, more than 100,000 students are studying at this university. 11,000 of the students are foreign.

7. Sien University

   It was founded in 1240 in Italy. The University of Siena, located in Tuscany, the beautiful center of the Florentine region, is very ancient and famous. In the early years of its establishment, the university taught Latin, law, logic, and medicine. Despite the disasters that befell the country (the European plague, two world wars, etc.), the university has retained its prestige and appeal. 8. University of Valyadolid

   It was founded in 1241 in Spain. The University of Valladolid, located in the Spanish region of Castile-León, was separated from the University of Palencia, founded in 1208-1212 by King Alfonso VIII of Castile. Initially, he taught grammar, arithmetic, Latin, and religious studies. Faculties of law, medicine, and art were added to it at the beginning of the 20th century.

  Today, Valyadolid University offers undergraduate programs in more than 100 areas, graduate programs in 17 areas, and master's programs in 50 areas. About 30,000 students study at the university, which is considered the leading university in Spain. About 2,700 professors and teachers teach them. It also employs about 950 employees in other fields.

9. University of Murcia

   It was founded in Spain in 1272. The University of Murcia, located in southeastern Spain, offers degrees in philosophy, medicine, law, biology, economics, psychology, and veterinary science to young people. King Alfonso X (Wise) of Castile, Leon, and Galicia founded this university. He advocated the use of the Castilian dialect of Spanish instead of traditional Latin in the fields of science and literature in teaching.

   The current university building was built in 1915. This higher education institution is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Spain. The University of Murcia admits more than 1,000 students annually from more than 50 countries around the world.

10. Kombra University

  Founded in 1290, it is the oldest university in Portugal. It was originally located in Lisbon and moved to Coimbra in 1308. The university is also one of the founding members of the Coimbra Group, an international association of 39 universities in Europe founded in 1985.

13. Uppsala University

   The University of Uppsala was founded in Uppsala, Sweden, in 1477, and is the oldest university in Sweden and the Nordic countries. The university was founded on the initiative of the Archbishop of Uppsala, Jacob Ulvsson, Primate of the Swedish Catholic Church. The university started with only 50 students and a few faculty members.
