News 15/02/2025 Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkey: new opportunities in higher education

   On February 12, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Kongratbay Sharipov, met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Turkey to Uzbekistan, Olgan Bekar. During the meeting, which took place in the form of a farewell conversation in connection with the completion of Olgan Bekar's diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan, the results of cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education and science were discussed.

   In recent years, relations between Uzbekistan and Turkey have reached a new level, and a number of important projects have been implemented. The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan has adopted a resolution on the establishment of the International University of Turkic States, and this educational institution is expected to contribute to the spiritual and scientific development of the Turkic peoples. An agreement was also reached on the opening of a branch of the Yunus Emre Cultural Center at the Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature, and a Memorandum of Understanding was signed.

   During the meeting, issues of further development of cooperation in the field of higher and vocational education and science, implementation of new initiatives, and exchange of experience were discussed. Efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries and bring them to a new level will continue.
