Reposts 22/01/2025 University of Japan to open in Uzbekistan

On January 21, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation led by the President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka.

Issues of expanding practical cooperation and promoting joint initiatives with this leading foreign financial institution were considered.

The Leader of Uzbekistan noted with satisfaction that the current visit of the JICA head will open a new stage of cooperation in the economic and financial-technical spheres. The Agency's role as a strategic partner in supporting reforms to build a New Uzbekistan was emphasized.

Today, the portfolio of joint projects in energy, transport, agriculture and water management, healthcare, education and other areas amounts to more than $8 billion. Last year, a three-year cooperation program was adopted.

The Uzbek-Japanese Center for Human Resource Development and the Youth Innovation Center are effectively operating.

More than 2,500 Uzbek specialists have studied and practiced in Japan through the agency. Volunteers from this country are contributing to the implementation of important social and humanitarian projects in Uzbekistan.

In addition, an agreement was signed on the construction and equipping of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Neurology and Stroke in Tashkent.

The President of Uzbekistan supported the plans of JICA to expand its activities in our country.

The importance of cooperation in the implementation of private sector projects, the creation of a special economic zone for Japanese investors, the opening of a Japanese university, as well as in the field of vocational education was noted.

An agreement was reached on the implementation of new mechanisms for promoting current and promising projects based on the "Roadmap."
