On October 29–30, Samarkand hosts the international Global Talent Forum. The agenda covers how the knowledge and experience of young people can serve the country's development, and how international cooperation can be strengthened.
The forum is organized by the El-yurt umidi foundation under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The National Bank of Uzbekistan is the general partner, and the international non-governmental non-profit organization Uzbekistan’s Club is the strategic partner. Representatives of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Turkish Council of Higher Education, the Institute of International Education (IIE), the Bolashak programme, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the British Council, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and EducationUSA are also taking part.
According to the foundation, around 500 young people received presidential scholarships through the open competitions held in 2025–2026. Eighty percent of them were admitted to universities ranked in the global top 100. The forum is looking at the results of these programmes and at ways to use the knowledge and experience of young people who studied abroad in Uzbekistan.
The programme includes a session on the role of financial institutions in developing human capital, discussions on cooperation plans for the coming years, and meetings with employers. The talks will focus on labour market demand for skilled staff, in-demand skills, youth employment and the conditions needed for career growth.
As part of the programme, the El-yurt umidi foundation will also hold a “Samarkand Tea Time” meeting on October 30, where participants will share their professional experience and initiatives.
