Articles 28/03/2025 How appropriate is it to call students for compulsory service during their studies?

Students pursuing full-time education at higher educational institutions are not called up for military service until graduation. Their conscription is postponed until they complete their studies.

Students in part-time and evening education programs may voluntarily enroll in the mobilization reserve service. In such cases, students are engaged in one-month military training sessions during July-August.

Additionally, students can take academic leave due to military service. Students on academic leave for military service are not transferred to correspondence, distance, or external forms of education.

If a student is expelled from a higher educational institution, they lose the right to postponement of conscription and may be called up for military service.

We remind you that this procedure applies equally to all state and non-state higher education institutions.

Basis: Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On Universal Military Duty and Military Service" (December 12, 2002) and Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 344.
