Students of technical colleges in Uzbekistan will be able to work and travel abroad under the international Work and Travel program. This is set out in Cabinet of Ministers decree No. 604 dated 31 October 2026.
Under the new rules, technical college students may work and travel in European Union countries, South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
A special loan system will be introduced to cover participants' travel and other related expenses. The Migration Agency has also been tasked with signing cooperation agreements with foreign employers under the program every year by 1 March.
To make vocational education management more transparent, important data will be entered into the EMIS RT information system. This includes the college's name, address and code, profession and field of specialization, level of study, form of education, student status and academic grades.
The initiative was first announced on 24 February, during the President's meeting with young people. Students from Uzbekistan have been eligible since May 2025 for an interest-free loan of up to 40 times the basic calculation value for the Work and Travel program.
For technical college students, this opens an opportunity to gain practical experience abroad and earn income. Those interested are advised to clarify the conditions and details with the competent authorities.
