Articles 23/04/2025 Can a master's student work full-time at a school?

❗️The main task of a master's student is to receive education. Therefore, a master's student has the right to work only during their free time outside of classes. It doesn't matter whether it's traditional or distance learning. In both cases, the main task is studying.

📄According to Article 184 of the Labor Code, the working hours for medical workers, educators, and other categories of employees whose work is associated with a high level of mental, intellectual, and nervous strain, i.e., those with special characteristics, are set at a maximum of thirty-six hours per week.

🟣Accordingly, the weekly working hours for all pedagogical workers do not exceed 36 hours, with the legislator establishing this norm for 1 full-time position.

☝️According to this rule, a master's student cannot fulfill these hours during their studies, which is why they cannot work full-time at a school. In this case, the master's student can work from 0.50 to 0.75 of a full-time position, depending on their class schedule at the university.

🟣It takes 7 hours per day to complete the weekly workload. In a master's program, even with at least 2 pairs of lessons per day, a master's student spends almost three hours. Or, even with 2 days of study per week, the norm set by Article 184 of the Labor Code cannot be fulfilled.

❌Therefore, you cannot work full-time.

✅ In this situation, you have the right to work at 0.5 or 0.75 of a full-time position depending on your free time.
