According to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, 38 higher education institutions from Uzbekistan have been included in the QS World University Rankings: Asia 2027. The result is seen as a practical outcome of ongoing reforms in higher education and wider international cooperation.
The main indicators of the ranking are as follows:
Among Central Asian universities, the TIIAME National Research University ranked 4th and the National University of Uzbekistan ranked 9th. Their Asia-wide positions were 113th and 196th respectively, while Samarkand State University placed 215th.
For applicants, an international ranking offers extra insight into a university's research potential and the quality of its education. For students and teachers, it may also signal wider opportunities for international partnerships, research projects and exchange programmes.
It is worth remembering that rankings are only one criterion and do not decide admissions. Still, a university's position shows how well it is recognised beyond the country's borders.
