When will the student be granted academic leave?
Anytime. Yes, a student can take academic leave, whether in the middle or at the end of their studies. This is the student's right established by law.
In accordance with the Regulation on the Provision of Academic Leave, students have the right to take academic leave at their discretion, regardless of the form of education in which they study.
Required documents:
To take academic leave, the student writes an application addressed to the rector (director) of the university. The application is reviewed within a week, and the granting of leave is formalized by order of the rector (director) of the HEI. It indicates the start and end dates of the academic leave.
Academic leave may be granted in the following cases:
How long will it be issued:
In this case, one of the specified periods is determined by the rector (director) of the higher educational institution in accordance with the student's application.
The application must be accompanied by a document substantiating the circumstances that served as the reason for taking academic leave (conscription for military service or a conclusion from a medical institution where the student is under constant medical supervision, or a conclusion from a medical institution where a sick family member is under constant medical supervision).
Granting an academic leave to a student is not considered expulsion from a higher educational institution. Also, scholarships are not paid to students during the academic leave period.
Students returning from academic leave within the established timeframe are not obligated to retake previously mastered subjects.
